Shelter Island Country Club will mark a 120-year milestone in 2021. The place we affectionately call “Goat Hill,” is steeped in historical significance as one of the oldest, continuously operated nine-hole golf courses in the United States. It is a vibrant centerpiece of Shelter Island living, a key player in the Island’s tourism economy and a jewel of precious open space.
The Shelter Island Country Club is now a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible.
By making a donation, you will be part of our endeavor to preserve this historic landmark while continuing to attract patrons throughout the golf season. The game of golf has become a welcome diversion during the Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in a 25 percent increase in rounds played. We want to keep the momentum going by continuing to improve the course and its operations. and by establishing a comprehensive learn-to-golf program for youth and adults alike, among other endeavors. Golf is a sport that defies age and relies on core values such as honesty, integrity, respect and courtesy as essential elements of the game.
Your donation will help put us closer to fulfilling our mission to make SICC a center for social, recreational and educational activities, now and into the future. By growing the game of golf on Shelter Island, we will ensure that SICC remains part of the Island’s rich history and a valuable partner in the Island’s economy and community.
